Is noise everywhere? If someone tries to be quiet and listen, is it possible to hear silence? In nature or maybe in the wilderness, would there be a chance of silence or at least quiet? Even there, is there likely to be a lot of sound?
What is the difference between sound and noise? Would there be a lot of individual variances in what is labeled sound and what is labeled noise? Do we find such individual noise differences in our entertainment choices, concerts, movies, television, live streaming?
Are we also bombarded with noise that is not received through our auditory system? Does social media often seem to be very noisy? Does email sometimes jump off the page to rage at the reader?
“Noise is the most impertinent of all forms of interruption. It is not only an interruption, but also a disruption of thought.”–Arthur Schopenhauer
Whether it is called sensory overload or noise or whatever, is it not at times an affront to our sanity? Is noise an effort to demand attention rather than explaining options? Is it comparable to putting urgency over importance?
Is “noise” an issue for you? Whether it is high decibel sound or CAPITAL LETTERS in an email do you find noise an interference to your focus and your thoughts? How do you deal with it? Do you have strategies for recovery from noise attacks?
