Truth?

Truth is self-evident! Or is it?

What is the truth? Why is the truth often hard to accept, especially if it is contradictory to one’s own beliefs? Is this really why Galileo lost his life? A lack of acceptance of the truth?

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident. –Arthur Schopenhauer

Is truth actually biased? Is it based in our perception of reality? If some see blue and some see green, who is correct? If someone is color-blind, might their perception of that blue and green be completely different? What is the true color for them? If two people observe the same event, is it not likely that they will, at least, have slightly different versions of what happened, based on their own unique perceptions?

Could it be that the world really is flat? Could it be that the earth does not orbit the sun? Could it be that man did not land on the moon? Could it be that the Corona virus did not kill millions of people? There are those who would deny the truth of any of these, even now. Does that make them less true?

How do you determine the truth? What is reality to you? Is the truth relative? Is the truth absolute? What is your truth? What do you absolutely accept as being self-evident?
