Different Views?

Is it possible that the current, attack and denigrate approach to defending ourselves, will evolve into something less belligerent? How can and will it be changed? Is an approach of listening and encouragement even possible?

Can we find points of agreement in our differences? Is it a matter of focus? Is it a choice of a perspective that is more positive or one that is more negative? Does it involve respect for others even those with different viewpoints?

Is our perspective on dealing with differences a matter of a growth versus a fixed mindset? Can we learn something, even from opinions that are diametrically opposed to our own?

Is there a self-esteem factor at work here? If I am confident in my beliefs, do I feel less threatened by different ideas?

What is your approach to views that differ from yours? Do you listen to other opinions with an open mind? Do you attack the person who expresses a different perspective? Can you be objective about the views expressed or do you consider them inseparable from the one expressing them?
