I can do it myself?

“I can do it myselgf” Is this a familiar proclamation for a 2-year-old, trying to demonstrate some newly developing skill. Is it a proclamation that could be repeated 80 years later to demonstrate that the ability to perform a particular ask is still there? In both cases is it really an attempt to prove independence?

Reading?

Is the joy of reading still alive? Is it still embraced by the young? If we read with an open mind, are we overly influenced by the opinions of others, which are so prevalent on social media?

Different Views?

Can we find points of agreement in our differences? Is it a matter of focus? Is it a choice of a perspective that is more positive or one that is more negative? Does it involve respect for others even those with different viewpoints?

Unplug to Recharge?

Does it seem like the world is spinning at a faster rate than ever before? Are our minds keeping pace or at least trying to do so?

What happens when we get overwhelmed, overstressed and worn out? What do we do to recover our energy, our sanity and our drive?

Self-ESTEEM? YOUTH Sports?

Whose program is it anyway? Are youth programs primarily for the benefit of parents, coaches or the young people participating? Is that often difficult to discern by observation?

Respect?

Exactly what is respect? What is disrespect?

Is respect a quality worth teaching the young? Where are the examples of respect for young people to study? Are they difficult to find in the entertainment industry, in politics, in sports, in schools, even in churches? Why? How do children learn respect? If it starts in the home, from where is there reinforcement?

Autopilot?

Do we live our lives on autopilot much of the time? Do we start each day with the same morning rituals? Do we follow the same route to work? Do we do the same things in the same way we did them yesterday and the week before and the way we will do them tomorrow and next week?
