what can i do?

Is this a question we ask when we become overwhelmed by what seems out of our control? In actuality, is it a question to be asked about any situation, as we evaluate our potential involvement?

Is this a question that we often ask of ourselves, as well as, of others? Are we sometimes looking for directions on how we can be involved? Sometimes do we ask the question to demonstrate our commitment?

Can it be asked in frustration when we feel overwhelmed or helpless or when we are ready to give-up and move-on to something else? Is it also asked, when we really do want to know how we can be of help?

Does the question have a different perspective when we ask it of ourselves, than when we ask it of others?

“The worst thing you can do is nothing.”–Terry Pratchett

Is it basically a different question according to the word emphasized? What can I do? What can I do? What can I do?

Is it frequently asked as a rhetorical question? Is it sometimes asked as a life path question?

Do you personally ask this question of yourself more than of others? Do you find your efforts to answer this question help to clarify your thinking on the issue at hand?

Would you share how you respond to young people who ask this question of you?
