A Guaranty?

Is anything ever really guaranteed? Whether it is guaranteed contracts or guaranteed promises or guaranteed deliveries, is there always the possibility that guaranties are really not?

What about guarantees from the universe? Can we be pretty certain that the sun will rise tomorrow, even if we cannot see it? Is it a certainty that gravity will continue to be a law in force on planet earth? Will we all die at some point? Will politicians continue to lie? Will there always be wars?

Is a guarantee in a written contract, with appropriate delineated non-compliance penalties, a truly guaranteed guarantee?

Is a promise a guarantee or is it, at least, intended as a guarantee? Is a promise often more of a statement of intention?

Do you treat promises as guarantees, when making or receiving them? Do you have faith in advertising guarantees? Do you make promises or offer guarantees? In what situations do you do either?
