Achievement?

Questions-not answers, about achievement!

Do we ever achieve our best possible self? Is it always a lifelong pursuit? Is achievement a marker on the path to fulfillment? What is our best self? Is it a viable objective? How will we know if we achieve it?

Are results the same as achievement?  Does achievement equate with personal fulfillment?  Does the achievement of a significant goal indicate success?

What do we control? While there is disagreement on the subject, would most people say that we can control our thoughts and to some extent our actions?  Is taking action on our thoughts a key to achievement?

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.”–Zig Ziglar

Are results, as measured by metrics, the true indicator of success? Are they often more of a snapshot of current status?

In actuality, is our growth and development in pursuit of achievement, more important than the results which indicate achievement? Is what we become more significant than what we do?

What happens, when you achieve a significant milestone? Are you inspired to pursue other major goals? Do you prefer to just relax and enjoy the rewards of your efforts? Are you chasing numbers or are you more interested in your growth and development? Is it about who you are becoming or what you did? What is success to you? How do you plan to achieve it?

  1. I think these are all very good questions. I do agree that our growth is more important than the achievements themselves. In the end, our achievements are fleeting. What we are left with is who we are.
