The blahs?

Blah? What are the blahs? Is it a feeling? Is it a mindset? Is it a physical, mental or emotional state? Languishing is a synonym. It is also referred to as a form of Anhedonia, a loss of interest. Could that word itself bring on a sense of blah?

Is a case of the blahs a state of mind that occurs periodically to many, if not most people? Are there varying degrees of “blahness”? Can we sum it up by saying the blahs are when you don’t feel good about yourself, you are bored, negative, unmotivated and don’t like much of anything?

How does feeling blah affect us? Accepting that the effects will vary with the severity of the blah episode and with the individual are their steps to take to improve the mood? Are there actions which can deepen the feeling? Do most people want to find a release? Are there some who embrace the blahs and even wallow in their lethargy?

Do you have the blahs on occasion? Do you consider it a significant problem? How long does this malaise normally last? Do you have personal strategies for dealing with anhedonia?
