Would you agree that children and animals often become very emotionally attached? What causes this attachment? Is it commonalities? Is it a sincere desire for companionship? Is there a shared bond? Is there trust? Do dogs have a keen ability to sense sincerity and/or a sense of those who can be trusted?
Is the ability to see people as they are, one of the talents that children and dogs share? Is it true that children, dogs and some other animals sense the B.S. and withdraw from those people who exemplify phoniness? Is it also true that they develop a trust in those who are sincere and authentic? Is this a reflection of the lack of guile in children and certain animals? Does it also demonstrate the lack of authenticity that is so commonly displayed by many adults?
“No symphony orchestra ever played music like a two-year-old girl laughing with a puppy.”–Bern Williams
Why do many people lose their ability to sense insincerity? Does it happen to dogs also or does the picture become clearer for them over time?
Is the ability to evaluate authenticity a skill that can be developed? Is it a valuable skill to learn? Can we learn it from our dogs and our children?
How accurate is your internal BS meter? Do you trust people or are you leery of trusting? What does it take to gain your trust? Do you trust dogs? Do you trust children? Do children and dogs trust you? Who trusts you? Why?
