Upon reflection, do most of us realize how much we value and appreciate our teachers and what they helped us to learn? Would this include not only those who taught us during our formal education, but others from whom we learned or are learning? If learning is a process, do we continue to gain new teachers and new insights as we live our lives? Are teachers a part of a growth mindset?
Is it accurate to state that in the formal learning process, teachers and students are often paired by assignment, sometimes randomly? It is also true that as we live our lives, we discover that sometimes teachers and students are paired-up spontaneously by situations? At times, do students seek teachers from whom they want to learn? No matter the selection process that puts them together, does learning occur through the connective bond between teacher and student? Do teachers impact their students in ways far beyond the lessons they teach?
“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. When the student is truly ready….The teacher will disappear.“–Tao Te Ching
Do teachers also learn from their students, as well? In fact, do students often have a significant impact on the lives of their teachers?
Are there teachers that you remember with gratitude, because of what they taught you or because they helped you to see things within yourself? What are the main lessons you remember? Are there teachers whom you credit with impacting your life in a major way? Have you shared that with them?
