Overnight Success?

Is it not fun to hear stories of a new music sensation that hits the scene winning Grammys and becoming a dominating presence or a new business start-up exploding with great sales and share prices that takes-off immediately? Are they overnight successes? Is it a fairy tale come true?

Upon further review, it not amazing to learn of the effort, the dedication and the time it takes to become an “Overnight Success?  Is overnight success a true oxymoron?

Does the overnight success label, often, overlook the great dedication and effort required to achieve success? 

Is overnight success actually more about the recognition of success than the achievement of success? Is it a matter of public acknowledgement?

Could being called an overnight success actually be a disservice to those individuals or even businesses that are so labelled? Does it overlook all the work that went into achieving that success?

Why do we like to use the “overnight success” label on people? Do we want to believe that some magic occurred without the need for hard work, study or practice, or even expertise?
